Rocket League has been a breakaway hit since it was released with over 25 million players worldwide. Currently the game is on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Now a rumor has started to float that Rocket League will finally make it to a Nintendo console through the Switch.
First off, there isn’t a lot of substance to the rumors. Most of them are coming from an article by Nintendo Everything where they have a quote from a Psyonix developer.
The quote was, “We are excited as you are regarding the release of Nintendo Switch however, we don’t have enough information at this time if it will happen. For the mean time, let’s both keep our fingers crossed that it will.”
Of course people were very excited when they heard this. After all, Bethesda had a developer talk about how excited they were for the Switch, which you can read here, and now Skyrim has been confirmed for the console. So seeing Psyonix excited about the console has given a lot of people hope. However, that isn’t exactly true.
GameSpot reached out to Psyonix regarding this quote, and they replied. It turns out the quote is misattributed to a Psyonix employee. They went on to explain that they’ve made no official statement on the Switch one way or the other, and that the quote was from an outside vendor’s customer support representative.
Still this does not mean Rocket League won’t come to the Nintendo Switch. It just means that if fans want it to they’ll have to work to let Psyonix know. They’ll have to post about it on their Twitter and Facebook, and on Rocket League’s Facebook and Twitter. If fans let them know they want Rocket League on the Switch, it’s a lot more likely to happen.
Sadly it was just rumors that Psyonix wanted to officially bring Rocket League to the Switch. Still, rumors around the Switch have been proven true several times already. This time it just might rely more on fans letting Psyonix know they want Rocket League on the Switch. So, do you want Rocket League on the Switch? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, and if you do want that, be sure to let Psyonix know or it might not happen.
