Square Enix is breaking in the newly established studio Istolia. They are currently working on a new IP called Project Prelude Rune. Not only that, but they’ve got Hideo Baba to direct the game.
Square Enix recently announced the new IP, and that it would be studio Istolia’s first project. We don’t know a lot about the game yet, but we do know that Hideo Baba has over eighteen years of experience in the industry, and is most well known for being the producer for the Tales series.
According to studio Istolia’s website, “The aim of the studio is to provide unforgettable stories that will inspire players in their own lives, and bring new game experiences to everyone around the world” Hideo Baba also commented that he hopes the studio will be able to create strong messages within emotional stories that will make gamers smile.
Currently all we know for sure about Project Prelude Rune, is that the name is supposed to invoke mystery, and three pieces of concept art. There is also a little dragon mascot for studio Istolia that we can see on their website, which Hideo Baba says may have more meaning than it first appears to.
No release date has been announced for Project Prelude Rune. However, the studio is currently hiring for many different positions which seems to indicate that they are still very early in development. So who knows when we’ll get to see this new RPG from Square Enix.
Studio Istolia, under the direction of Hideo Baba the producer of the Tales series, will work on the newest Square Enix IP, Project Prelude Rune. They are being fairly tight lipped about the game, but have released three pieces of concept art to go with the announcement. So, what do you think? Are you excited to see a big studio start up a new IP, or do you think they should be sticking to what works? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
