Gabe Newell, the head of Valve and Steam, is going to be doing an AMA later today. He will be accepting any question, but only answering the ones he wants to. So don’t get excited for any news on Half-Life.
An AMA is a common term on Reddit. It means, “ask me anything.” These sorts of things are frequent and people will ask all kinds of questions with the person doing the AMA answering what they can. Still, with so many people asking questions it is almost impossible that all of them could be answered. Especially when it’s just Gabe Newell answering all of the questions himself.
The biggest question on most people’s minds is of course any news about Half-Life 3. Fans have been waiting religiously for the next installment in the Half-Life series, and they’re notorious for making crackpot theories as to how the game had been announced (usually done in jest).
However, the odds that Half-Life 3 will be announced in this AMA are astronomically low. The moderators of the thread approached Gabe Newell, not the other way around, and there’s no sort of press conference coming up any time soon. After all, just announcing the game and nothing more would only invite even more questions. This would most likely lead to people hounding down Valve with a barrage of questions. Still, I personally have some small glimmer of hope that he’ll set the internet ablaze by confirming Half-Life 3.
The AMA will be held here with a post from Gabe Newell himself kicking things off. The questions are supposed to start at 11 pm GMT. So it’ll be a late night for anyone who wants to stay up and see what happens. Still, Valve is one of the gaming giants, and there are sure to be a lot of great questions.
To wrap things up Gabe Newell, the head of Valve, will be having an AMA on Reddit tonight. He most likely won’t confirm Half-Life 3, but that won’t stop people from asking about it. After all, why not hope for a miracle? What do you think about the AMA? Are there questions you’d like to ask? Let me know in the comments below.
