Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked was at PAX Prime. At their booth, fans got a taste of the game, with a twelve minute gameplay. A few different people recorded their experience at the booth, but the video below was made using a game capture and not a camera recording the screen.
Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked has gotten a good deal more information since the game was announced, which I wrote about here. At PAX Prime, Klei Entertainment had a booth where they had a special demo version of Shipwrecked available for people to try out. Many people had a blast, and recorded their experience on their phones, or other cameras, but it appears that YouTuber Starsnipe is the first to use game capture to record his experience. With the permission of Klei Entertainment of course.
The demo introduced a lot of new features to the game including a new section for nautical crafting. There were also new creatures, like jellyfish that can be caught and used in crafting recipes. Of course, jellyfish stay in the water, but now you can use boats to travel through the water. In the original Don’t Starve you are trapped on one massive island, but in Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked, you need to travel between smaller islands to survive. The world’s layout is randomly generated whenever you create a new world, so each new playthrough will be different. Weather effects have also gotten turned up, and that includes powerful gusts of wind that blow some items across the ground. This will make navigating by boat easier or harder depending on if you want to travel the same direction as the wind or not. There are also more nautical themed items like pirate hats and coconut grenades (coco-nade).
Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked is coming to PC, Mac, and Linux this fall. It is currently being developed by Klei Entertainment in collaboration with Capy Games. So, are you pumped for the newest installation for Don’t Starve?
