Don’t Starve is a survival game originally released on PC back in April 2013. The last expansion for the game was Reign of Giants, and now developer Klei has just announced Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked. The newest expansion will release on PC, Mac, and Linux first and then come to consoles later. On top of this, Klei has announced a partnership with Capy Games to make Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked.
The goals of the Don’t Starve games so far have been pretty basic. You have to stay alive on an island filled with things that want to kill you. Only your own priorities rule you as you have to decide what is most important for you to build. Whether that is shelter, weapons, food, or anything else, only you can decide. The game does not give you instructions. It simply leaves you on an island and tells you to survive. Of course, up until now the ocean has worked as a sort of boundary, but with Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked you will be forced to take to the sea to survive.
Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked has not had a whole lot of information released about it yet. It was only just announced so that is expected. However, the game’s website tells us that “With new playable characters, biomes, creatures and seasonal effects; Wilson and the whole Don’t Starve cast of characters embark on a sea-bound journey of exploration, adaptation and of course, starvation.”
Capy Games will be working with Klei on Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked. Their exact role is not clear yet, but they already have several successful games under their belt. Capy Games is the creator of “Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery, Super Time Force and Below.” Below is currently being developed for release on Xbox One and PC.
Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked is set to release for PC, Mac, and Linux this fall. A console release will most likely come later. So, what do you think? Are you excited for another Don’t Starve fantasy survival game?
