Deus Ex: Mankind Divided had its first trailer revealed yesterday, along with a Twitch live-stream event by Square Enix, and a new website for the game. The game is set in the near future of 2029, and is two years after the last Deus Ex game. The main character is still Adam Jensen, who has joined a new counterterrorism unit after failing to save the world.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set in 2029, two years after the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution(more importantly, it follows after the Aug incident “a day when mechanically augmented citizens all over the world were stripped of control over their minds and bodies, resulting in the deaths of millions of innocents”), and follows the story of the same protagonist, Adam Jensen. Jensen has become disillusioned and bitter after his failure in Human Revolution. He has joined a new Interpol unit that focuses on counterterrorism and is called, Task Force 29. ON the surface his goal is to track down and stop terrorists, but his real purpose lies in hunting down the men and women of the Illuminati who are pulling the strings from the background.
In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, augmentations are no longer a part of high society. People with augmentations are outcasts, and after several terrorist attacks committed by augmented humans, anyone with augmentations are being rounded up and arrested. Adam Jensen has to pick through the chaos and find the answers at the heart of the problems on both sides. According to the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided website, “Now an advanced covert operative, Adam Jensen is forced to operate in a world that has grown to despise his kind. Armed with a new arsenal o state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy.”
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided offers a vast array of customizable weapons and augmentations. You can focus on stealth, social, hacking, or combat, and create a character that plays the way you want them to. Once again, decisions and choices are crucial in determining the outcome of the game. Every action, and every choice will have a meaningful consequence within the game.
During the Twitch live-stream event, Square Enix revealed a lot of additional information about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. It will run on Eidos Montreal’s in house game engine, Dawn Engine. The game will have Direct X 12 and AMD’s TressFX support, to give the game amazing visuals. Lastly they revealed that the game will be coming out on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
